Feed per revolution and surface feet per minute.

I'm confused why both have to be input in the IPS screen when performing functions such as OD turn. For instance; If I decide I want .005" feed per revolution and am using 100 SPM, but then change to 200 SPM, wouldn't that change the feed per revolution? I'm sure I'm missing something here and appreciate any replies.

    No.

If you increase the surface speed you increase the rpm so the feed rate per minute increases but it is still the same feed per revolution.
An open mind is a virtue...so long as all the common sense has not leaked out.
