    fanuc 10TF IPL screen problem

    I have a Mori Seiki SL 25A/500 with parameters missing. At turn on the control goes directly to the IPL screen. I follow the procedure and insert the 9000 parameters, but after I hit 6) END IPL, the control takes me back to the IPL screen instead to the Fanuc Position screen, sometimes I get RAM errors with the screen full of numbers. Any pointers are appreciated.

    1: you could have a hardware problem
    2: did you answer the'"# of axes" question correctly?
    3: did you enter the option in hexadecimal? Are you sure that they are correct?
    4: the FILE ALLOCATION ERROR message points to an invalid memory size option (specifically param #9921)

    Memoryman,

    I answer correctly to the number of axes and entered parameters in hexadecimal format, although since we do not have the original parameters I had to ask to someone that has the same machine.

    Thanks for your reply

    If the memory parameter enabled more memory than installed, that can cause the issue.

    But the option parameters go from 9100 to 9139, How can parameter 9921 be changed?

    Parameters 9120 is 0000 0000
    Where do I get the software version from? The stickers on the eproms?

    Not sure about a 10tf but doesn't a rotary switch on the CNC card need to be changed just to get into IPL mode on older controls. I am used to it on 16 and 18 controls.

    No on the rotary switch. Software version should be about the first thing on the screen when it boots. Did you replace the batteries prior to trying this? 10 as far as I know is not bubble memory like the 11/12 series and if you got parameters for a late 10, memory amount can be way off.

    To get into IPL mode, hold the 'minus' and 'period' keys simultaneously while pressing the 'control on' pb'. Afaik, NO Fanuc control has a rotary switch for modes.
    The eproms may have the software version on the labels; the motherboard part # is also helpful.

    The rotary switch is there on the newer controls, typically on ones that use some other PC front end like the Mori mapps control. All it does is slow down the boot time so you can enter IPL mode using the standard keys.

    Software version reads on the screen 1316D, on the eprom stickers reads only 1316

    Thanks Memoryman

    Re: fanuc 10TF IPL screen problem

    Set it to the lowest 40 Meters by setting 9120 to 00000001
    The error should not be present now (if your hardware is working properly)
    Then change the memory setting upwards until you start getting the error and then drop it back one setting (back to your real memory setting)
    80M = 00000010
    160M = 00000100
    320M = 00001000
    480M = 00010000
    640M = 00100000

    Thanks Fordav,

    I did what you said and it worked. I have passed to the normal screen, now I just need to get the parameters right.
