Do you think this will be cool enough?

Do you think this will be cool enough? I am a bit limited on space and don't know how much heat to expect.

    Attachment 239942
2x 36 Volts 16 Ampere Power Supplies (the top one gets a hole for its fan)

4x Stepper Drivers for Nema 23 Motors (3-4A each)

    3x 12cm fans. 2 blowing in, 1 blowing out. Wrong way on the picture :/ (74 CFM / 125,7 m³/h )

    Spooner777,

If in fact the power supplies are 36 volts 16 amps, the four drives only require one power supply.

That in itself would reduce heat immensely and save energy too.

If all the fans are exposed to outside air (vented) they will cool all the components sufficiently.

Equipping the enclosure with a digital thermometer will cost less than three dollars.

Thanks, I made a mistake. They are 10A not 16. So I need both.

Is the top PS vented through the case? If not, it should be or it needs more room between it and the case.
Don't forget to filter the inbound air supply.

To add to what Lee said.

The fan blowing out should be at the top.

If this is for a router, you better have some really good filters over the intake fans, or you'll have a box full of dust. It seems that in 95% of the pics I see, filtering the intake air is not a consideration. I use automotive air filters over my intake fans, and they keep the box spotless. They're cheap, too.

The PS have their own fan build in, one of them is pointed outside through a hole in the box. I put the fans on the outside of the box. Got to figure out a good way to filter the air. Don´t want to obstruct the air flow to much either.

    Spooner777,

Search eBay for "cabin air filter" or "engine air filter" there are many types that would be simple to attach to your enclosure.

    Thanks!

I guess I could just connect the 3 fans in series and power them off the 36volts power supply? Or should I get an extra adapter?

    Spooner777,

Why not attach the fans to the P.C. 12 volts?

Running the three fans in series would pose an issue if one fan failed (opened circuit), the remaining fans would lose power.

Most likely you would not notice the fan stoppage until a overheat condition causes a more serious issue.

See attach image of P.C. power connection pinout.

Yeah, but where do I get the PC power supply from? Got no space left. Maybe Ill find a simple 12 volt adapter in the garage that I can use.

    Spooner777,

99.9% of most hobby CNC machines require a P.C. to run them (Mach3... Linux CNC... etc...) and have 12 volts and 5 volts readily available.

Five minutes to open the P.C. case and attach a external 12 volt power connection would be a cinch.

    Improvise, adapt and overcome.
