    Capacity of CHNC4, or chnc1?

Looking at a couple lathes tomorrow.

What would you say is max part dimensions for chnc4 and chnc1?

Anything to be cautious of, or reasons to avoid? I believe they are both oil only, no coolant, unless a number of changes are made to keep coolant out of the bearings, but thats about all Ive found?

    Any tips are appreciated!

Re: Capacity of CHNC4, or chnc1?

the chnc 1's (1990) that i had i was able to machine to 6.5 inches in dia. and probably about 4 inches in length. at about 3 inches it starts to lack horse power to take a good cut in tool steel so you take a smaller depth of cut. my machines were almost 20 years old and still held .0005 total tolerance machining they were well taken care of. The collet closer if bar feeding the work may push back if using drills larger than 1/2 and trying to push them
