    AWC608 and LaserCAD connection weirdness

    Hi everyone

Okay - new minor problemette I'm encountering.

Have a new AWC608 with LaserCAD software - both working perfectly... apart from one thing:

    1) I click 'Download'... the ''download document' box appears (as it should)

    2) I click "Download document" bottom right - another box pops up saying 'loading document' (as it should),

    but there it lock up.

It will sit there, pretending to load a document forever - this little dialog box is unclosable... and (so) locks up the whole of LaserCAD. The only way of getting it back is to physically disconnect the USB cable whereupon it says:

    "communicating unsuccessful"

allowing me to close the download dialog boxes.

Then when I try it again, it sails through fine.

Then when I try it again, it locks up again.

Basically I can't get it to communicate with the board without physically unplugging the cable (every time).

Any ideas on how to get it to communicate normally?

    I guess nobody knows

Ok - go meta - does anyone know where I can get support for AWC 608 controllers running with LaserCAD?

I'm having to unplug then replug the USB cable every time I try to upload anything. It's sub-optimal.

Where did you buy your DSL from? If you got it from light object, you can post on their forums and get help there.

Yea - the name Light Object comes up quite a lot - I got mine from Aliexpress though - worked out about $100 cheaper, although I guess I'm paying for that now.

What is the firmware versions you have installed? You can get that info off the laser.

Try connecting to the laser through Ethernet.

Well that believe it or not, is an absolutely brilliant idea, which I hadn't thought of

Unfortunately, it turns out that ethernet works even less well than USB - ie: I get no life out of it at all. I struggled with it for about an hour, but no sign of life. Could be any number of things.

At least USB works 1/2 the time... I'm just learning to live with it basically - every time I need to download something, it takes 2 goes - one to lock up the PC, which requires a USB cable unplug... one to actually do the download.

It seems weird to me that there could be a company making these things, but there's no support.

I'm sure if you learned Chinese your support would be better.

Once you can find someone who speaks Chinese, you can ask at the manufacturer's website.
