Are there any big-travel CNC desktops available in UK/Europe?

Ideally I'm looking for something about the size and weight of a Tormach 1100 or better still Novakon Torus Pro, but the only off the shelf CNC's I've seen are the much smaller Seig KX1/KX3 and the SYIL X-series.

I could just about cope with 18" of X and 10" of y-travel, but really 24x12" would be better.

    Cheers.

I want to cut steel and aluminium - I don't want anything routerish, I want a really meaty mill, preferably CNC out of the box, though I suppose a BF46 Vario + CNC Conversion might be an option.

An ATC would be nice, but is not essential.

    Cheers.

Given that all the machines start life in China, it seems likely that someone a bit closer to me is already importing/rebadging/supporting them...

Tormach generally ships spare parts same day, though air express would certainly increase your cost quite a bit. They also have a spare part kit and that might be a good idea to buy along with the mill, especially if your income depends on a functional mill.

TBH I am very tempted by a Tormach - I already have a lot of TTS tooling, but the X-travel is a bit too short for my liking.

Hi The Mill i use (build Since 40 years in austria no China stuff )
    Has an table 200 x 750 mm travel is 175 x 440 mm
Z axis around 300 mm (i would have to go down and measure )
The Tool holder are iso30 ..
So if you search like i did for a non chinese machine this could be an Option ..

Thanks - I think that's just a bit smaller travels than the machine I currently have. I may go look at a 'real' Opti BF46 soon - they are not cheap though!

Hmm, the Opti website and user manual disagree slightly - the manual says 520mm in X and 260mm in Y which is significantly larger than your machine IMO. I really would like 200+ mm travel in Y...

Yes, that's possible! I am going to go and see a BF46 at the end of this week - it will be interesting to see where they've added 200kg over the BF30!

    Hi
you know that because of the sky fire disaster i now really look into "is it possible to have" non china mills ,..
that is why i also have an eye on that optimum stuff
The bf46 has is40 as far as i have seen this means the spindle should be massive that adds some kg ,..
I hope you find your 200kg
I had an look at cnc and optimum Optimum Machines: M 2LS / M 2LS ADVANCED
and they have less travel ,..
(i am glad that my mind did not trick me ) so be sure you don't loos too much at travel ,..

i did some lifting at weekend with my machine i designed a new kind of splash guard and since weekend the machine is on the new "bed"
will look like a little bridgeport 412

I think that M2LS is probably based on the Opti BF20!

You seem to have to go for very large machines to get much bigger travels once you go to a 'proper VMC' - but unlike most benchtops, they don't seem to have a 2:1 or greater X:Y travel ratio. E.g. this 'mini-mill' XYZ MINI MILL 560 - Vertical Machining Centres and Production Solutions - XYZ Machine Tools has 560x400mm X and Y travels.

And if you have the room and 3-phase power, not hugely more expensive than the Opti B2LS if you by used : XYZ 560 Mini Mill
